How to make 5.1 surround sound for video

This short video instruction describes how to create 5.1 surrounds from six different WAV files using Sony Vegas. To best view set 720p HD and full-screen mode.

Step 1. You must set up your video project for 5.1 surrounds.
File-> Properties-> Audio -> 5.1 Surround -> Click OK.
Now your mixer switches to 5.1 surround mode.

Step 2. Drag and drop your WAV files (already prepared) to six different tracks. Assign every track to an appropriate channel.

Step 3. Play and adjust the mixer.

Step 4. Save and render the project.

The End.

Here you can download 5.1 background music in WAV format (six different files: Right, Left, Center, Rear right, Rear left, LFE).

Notes: To preview your 5.1 surround sound project you need a 5.1-compatible sound card. Most modern computers already have a 5.1-compatible sound card on the motherboard. If you have no such one, then use three standard stereo sound cards.

In multi-track editing, you need to constantly monitor the recording level. Open the surround mixer window, and do not close it before the sound level will finally be adjusted. Note that any overload signal level after transcoding to AC3 format can lead to significant distortions when playing a DVD, so do not set the sound level too loud.

  6. I must express some appreciation to this writer for bailing me out of such a problem. Just after surfing throughout the online world and coming across basics which are not helpful, I was thinking my life was over. Existing devoid of the answers to the issues you’ve resolved by means of your website is a critical case, and ones which might have badly damaged my entire career if I hadn’t come across the website. Your own personal ability and kindness in controlling all the pieces was very useful.

  14. Sound bars is suppose to siamtule the sound of a surround sound all in one position at the front. Personally it does not have the same sound effect as having the rear speaker placed to the side or rear of the listener, also the front left and right speakers are too close to distinguish the right or left. You have to check the sound bar itself, it they are powered or require an external amplifier or receiver. If they are not powered you can not just plug your tv to is and have sound. Go online to Home theater magazine and read reviews on sound bars. Hope this will help you out.
